Wellness Wednesday: Be Water Wise This Summer and Stay Hydrated!

1 water glass: notinteresting

Summer is here so prepare for the heat and stay hydrated with these tips to keep your body replenished:

  • Always drink extra water when exercising. When exercising outside be sure to hydrate before, during and after the activity. It’s recommend from the American Council on Exercise, when exercising drink every 15 to 20 minutes to stay replenished.
  • Monitor fluid loss by checking the color of your urine. It should be pale yellow and not dark yellow, too smelly or cloudy.
  • Eat plenty of water-rich fruits and vegetables for maximum benefit such as: cucumbers, celery, tomatoes, radishes, peppers, cauliflower, watermelon, spinach, strawberries, broccoli, and grapefruit.
  • Change up the way you drink water by infusion flavors with cucumbers, orange slices, mint and lime juice or lemons. You can also give coconut water a try! It’s packed with potassium, magnesium, sodium, and calcium. It also replenishes lost fluids and electrolytes quickly.
  • Reach for water first and avoid alcohol, sugary drinks, and caffeine. These particular liquids work against hydration.

Have fun this Summer and stay hydrated!
