Plant Tip: Save Soil in Containers with Plastic Bottles and Cans

Saving Soil When Planting Large Planters by Caroline Reardon | Large planters, Plants, Planting flowers

Save money and potting soil by putting recyclable trash at the bottom of a large pot. Most plant’s roots do not reach the bottom of the container and the pot will weigh less. I used milk cartoons, plastic juice containers and Gatorade bottles in my Rosemary planters on the back patio.

The plastic bottles, cans and milk cartons improve drainage and create air pockets for better aeration and healthier soil!
